Two Small Things I've Been Doing to Help Improve My Mental Health

- Taking flyers from people passing them out in the street. I've flyered. It can be soul-crushing. 9 out of 10 people won't even look at you. The shittiest thing about it, is the public perception of people handing out flyers is, "ugh, get a job." Because this is a hobby? I don't understand. 


Take the flyer, even if you no intention of using it, look them in the eye, and say "thank you." Look at the flyer. If it's not something you're interested in, wait till you turn the corner and throw it in the garbage. OR, you could be enjoying a sandwich and a soda for $5! !n MANHATTAN! Seriously, It doesn't take much energy. You'll probably make that person's day. 


- Saying something nice about something on social media. Stop making yourself sick with political posts and negativity. Stop bitching about your favorite comic movie adaptation casting someone you don't like. Try and go a week without commenting or reposting anything negative.


Actively seek out a piece of writing, a short film, any type of art, whatever you're interested in -- seek it out, and comment something thoughtful. Tell this person how it relates to you. Make your admiration for someone else's work known without expecting anything in return. 



Positivity generates positivity. It works.
